Why ever would you do that? the above might be true, but it is irrelevant.
Compare the weight of two boats built out of 1/4" of each type. The pine is
heavier than the fir by a good bit, but it is also stronger. You might more
logically compare weights of 3/8" fir to 1/4" pine.
