Re: [bolger] Yella Proa Sea Trials?
I looked out from Taylors Island which is about 20 mi south of the Bay
Bridge, on the Chesapeake Bay, and nothing yellow went by, so they must have
made it, or perhaps they were at Davis's Pub, which would be sensible in 38
knt gusts. Clyde

Andy,
As I stated in another post, I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at
around 10:30 or 11 on Saturday and the Bay was doing is best Ocean
imitation! I could not spot the Yella Proa out for capsize drills. I
just remembered the 88 class boats at St. Michaels last October. Those
boats are so tender that they had to hoist sail in a capsized
position, and only one of the boats ever got started.
Aside from the Watertribe cruise, do you get to any of the small
boat/canoe events ? I would like to see your boat and rig.

We haven't heard from Craig since he said he and John Harris were
taking the Yella Proa out for capsize drills in the chilly
Chesapeake . I was wondering how things went. Saturday was really
blowing and cold - I stayed home; Sunday was blowing less but colder -
at least up in the Delaware Bay.
I really question the sanity of those two. I do everything possible
to avoid capsize in this weather. They go out for capsize drills. I
can only think of two good things about small boat sailing in the
winter in the Northeast: bilges dry(freeze) quickly and no "personal
water craft."
