Bruce
In addition to the article's in Woodenboat that were specific to the Subaru engine, Glen L has a book
by Witt and Hankinson called Inboard Motor Installation. that is very readable, that covers all
aspects of installing a motor.

"There are no dumb question." I hope
A couple of years ago Wooden Boat Magazine ran a contest
on the best boat meeting certain criterion, using a Subau
Car motor (Marineified) as the power. I saw the winning design, but
no info on motor.
Does anyone have any info on the Subaru motor and how to make it
suitable for marine use. (Coast Guard Stuff etc), trasmission, prop
and such.
These are great lillte engines. Kind of just a flat four, water
cooled, old VW engine. Great advantatge because they are lighweight
and flat, and therefor fit (under) better. Older ones not many HP
but great fuel ecconomy, and run forever.
Any info on how to convert Subaru to marine use, or info from
Wooden Boat Aricle Greatly appreciated.
Even some now being used in home built airplanes.
Thanks
Pat
May there are "dumb" questions.
