[bolger] Re: John Bell's Windsprint "Mejor Que Nada"

The picture isn't my old boat! Mine was probably the only boat of any sort
ever built *exactly* to the designer's plans. When we're talking about an
"instant" boat means it is pretty utilitarian. Brightwork! Bah! ;-) I was
surprised to have little remorse when Larry pulled away. I suppose knowing
that she was going to a good home where she'd more use than I gave her made
it feel all right.

Glad to hear Larry made it back safe and sound.

FYI, the 59 sq. ft. Leg o'mutton Bolger drew for a bunch of boats including
Gypsy, Teal, and Brick will fit on a Windsprint just fine. The centers of
effort for the big balanced lug and the L O'M match up just perfectly.

Holey Moazes what a boat!

If I were to take the reception my teal "lil'winnie" and the
extrapolate for the above windsprint, I'd have to guess I'd get a key
to the city, and a ticker-tape parade!

Beautiful work!

Good afternoon Listers,

Well, it's Sunday afternoon and i feel like i got run over by a truck.
Saturday, Lora & i my step-daughter, drove up from Palm Bay, Florida to
Kennesaw Ga, just north of Atlanta, Picked up the Windsprint, and drove home
arriving around 5 am Sunday morning. Boat made it here just fine and is now
sitting out back under the picknic tarp shelter. It's usable right now if i
had a sail rig & a bailer (big grin). It's so windy down here i don't know
if i'll use a Lug rig or not. I may go sprit... or a wider lug that's not as
tall & batten reefable like a chinise lug sail. It can go from light breez to
a rip snorter in 10 minutes down here. I'll run it past Jack Molluer & see
what he says. He is faculity at Westlawn
School of Yacht Design & lives near by.

We'll probably rout off the bottom and replace with marine 3/8th, which will
make her heavier a bit but not too much. I plan on enclosing ther bow and
stern, like the attached picture. If you don't want to see it don't download
it ok? :-)
