Mosquitoes and rocks
Good Morning Jack It's mosquitoes that led me to the WDJ and all the
shallow water and the rocky and sandy bottoms of the lakes we have here in
wonderful mosquito infested Manitoba.
You can't go anywhere in the summer without dealing with them .Picture
is -there we are in a secluded bay on lake Winnipeg or Lake of the Woods.
It is evening ;'.the wind has died down and now the mosquitoes are coming
out. They fill the air with a dull roar . There is no place to go except
the boats cabin. If the cabin is small and has few windows for air; its not
going to be very comfortable Especially if its hot and one is slightly
claustraphobic. In our more northern latitudes we have very long evenings and
it doesn'tget dark till about 10..One is stuck in that cabin for a long
time..The WDJ has a large airy cabin with windows all around and thats
where I'll be in the evening 'listening to the loons' watching the sun go
down, and having a good (I.P.A.) from Nova Scotia. For our friends down
south IPA is( India Pale Ale) a most delightfull brew made only in Nova
Scotia. By the way - what qualifies me to be part of this group
1) I have never been in a sail boat(except for
the Sears Sunfish I had 25 years ago 2) people here on
the prairies don't have much to do with water and sail
3) I've been building all my life
4) I built Bolgers (Paysons)Gull in 97
5) A dreamer (most certainly ) and pround of
it
6) I type with one finger
7) I made my first cut on my Vacationer
yesterday and slept well last night
