I've done a little bit more poking around to find out
what the ASTM method references. I think it has to do
with shear strength, but am not sure if that's true.
Anybody familiar with ASTM tests?

THis is less than some other adhesives. I think epoxy with no glass is
usually something like 8,000 psi, but that's not the bond strength.
Wood along grain might be 5000 to 10,000 psi. But usually we are
looking at gluing across the grain, not along it, and here wood is
much weaker. I don't have numbers but I would think 500psi is a high
proportion of the across the grain strength.

Premium and here is their reply:
Test A (wet lumber) Douglas Fir 523psi
Test B (frozen lumber) Douglas Fir 558psi
Test C (dry lumber) Douglas Fir 593psi
timber floor joists.
Can anyone decipher this data for the group or offer comparisons to
other adhesives? Is this a relevant test for instant boat
applications?
