I pronounce my boat cover making adventure a success! An eight dollar
tarp, $16 worth of snaps, and an afternoon at the beach and I have
two custom fit covers for the fore and aft cockpits of the LSME. I
ran a little short of snaps and some things remain to be worked out,
(like how to go over/around the 2x6 mast partners,) but these are
mere details. They fit nicely, and I think the forward one will keep
waves from splashing in while she's at anchor and prevent her from
sinking like she did last Fall.
I also contacted the police about the rules and regs. regarding
abandoned boats. With their blessing I plan on returning to the 16'
dinghy and salvaging not only the drainage contraption, but a nice
assortment of stainless steel bits and pieces. I may never visit the
chandlery again.
