Ground Tackle
FBBB --
I've searched the internet and the local library, but can't find any
suggestions on how much my mooring should weigh for the LSME. Perhaps
you all can help.
THE ANCHORAGE:
Soft sand/mud bottom. Water depth at mean low tide is four feet. Tide
range is four feet in the extreme, more frequently about 2.5 feet. A
friend anchors his 28'/ #8000 sloop on a #300 mushroom and that seems
sufficient.
THE GEAR:
I've got a rusty old #50 mushroom and a bucket of concrete with a an
eye bolt in it the weighs about #60. What I'm thinking is about 20
feet of chain shackled to the mushroom and the bucket going up to a
float, then about 15 feet of polypropylene going from the float to
the scooner.
So what do you all think? Overkill? A recipe for disaster?
