Re: Sweet Caroline Plans

The plans from Glen-L were fine, one huge sheet that got a bit cumbersome,
plus a building guide, bill of materials, and order sheet for a fastening
kit if you want it. The plans include full-size patterns for the frames.
The construction requires some beveling of the chine logs, but it is a
straight cut on a table saw. I built a kayak from Glen-L plans several
years ago, and the plans were good too. Glen-L's web site is pretty
specific about what is included in the plans, and you can buy frame kits for
a lot of their larger designs. The frame and fastener kits are reasonably
priced if you don't want to chase all those bits around locally. They give
you a choice of bronze or galvanized fasteners. I did not buy the fasteners
because I had some and I enjoy scrounging (most of the time).

On living in north Florida, I'm biased as a native, but I spent 40 years in
Atlanta working for an airline, went all over the world, and chose to retire
back in the Florida panhandle. It is about to go through development shock
as the rest of Florida has already, but for now it is a great boating venue.
The fishing is good too. Downside: no great employment opportunities, but
if you can find suitable work a great place to live... Jacksonville area
has more employment potential. If you can't come, just visit my web site
occasionally, I'll try to post some good boating stuff (moving to a real
server soon). This is a plug, but it is not a blatant "Chamber of Commerce"
site, just things I enjoy doing and putting up for those who can't be here
full time. Sort of a journal of my voyage into senility.

Other areas I would like to have lived: Ft. Myers area, San Diego, Puget
Sound, Maine in summer, Maui or other out-islands of Hawaii, Florida
Keys...
