Re: Diablo earns her keep! Spring in the Northeast!
Sorry David,
I forgot to mention the trailer. Oops!
I guess I will have to go to RI or New York (Damn Yankees!) and get
my flattie fix. Taxachusetts does not allow flattie fishing until
May. However, the herring are running with the stipers right
behind. Trout fishing is now. The bow seat of Diablo makes a great
platform for fly fishing as the motor counter-acts the weight of the
fisherman.
Firefly is the Micro I have been working on. I figure it will
take close to 25 hours to do 100 miles in her. I hope she can self
steer.

David --
When I first read the note, I thought you had done 100 mile *in* the Firefly!
Spring is spring here in Montauk too. The grass is greening up, the
trees are budding, and I'm off to go flounder fishing in Lake Montauk
out of the lil'winnie.
I've got a set line of seven hooks. Hopefully it's flatties for dinner!

Spring is spring here in Montauk too. The grass is greening up, the
trees are budding, and I'm off to go flounder fishing in Lake Montauk
out of the lil'winnie.
I've got a set line of seven hooks. Hopefully it's flatties for dinner!

Dear Group,
With ice out, no snow, and an actual day with no rain Diablo and I
took our first trip of the season to prepare for the arrival of her
sister "Firefly". 100 miles to Harwichport to drop the mooring. It
is well advised to carve out your space early in the season before
someone else drops on your "spot".
Diablo makes a great mooring boat for the 100# plus 15' of 3/8
chain. It was then great to take her out into Nantucket Sound and
open the throttle of the 10 hp Johnson. She certainly remembered how
to climb out of a hole and fly (12 kts). After picking the bugs out
of my teeth I returned home to the trailer and an afternoon of
sanding down epoxy lumps in preparation for "Firefly's" outer skin.
There is life after winter. . .
