That
message was deleted in Smallboats. It has been reposted, as
8-oh-something, I think. I can't be exact since I have
unsubscribed. Good luck.

Well, I saw that someone else scored, but I get an "OOOPS ... there is no
Message 787" when I try it. (I am "registered" or whatever with the
"Smallboats" group, as far as I can tell, albeit w/no e-mails and solely for
the purpose of following up references from this group.

Hi Peter, my hope was that this would be considered an invitation for them
to expand their interests and join the group. This helps prevent a myopic
point of view.
I don't think I'm being unfair at all, it is not that difficult at all to
join this group and welcome new members. I can't in any way see how that can
be considered unfair or anything like it.
What is the purpose of your post to me, to tell me I'm being unfair or am I
missing something.
I have no idea what this means "I'm not sure that multiplying the groups is
production".
I have my own reasons to keep the group for members only, but thanks for the
tip. Don

Don:
Non-members can not view the Smallboats files. If you are going to
post the links, it would be only fair to allow access. When I caught
on to this, I made the files of the boatdesign list public.
Addendum to the list in general:
There are several lists that support discussion of non-Bolger boats.
I'm not sure that multiplying the groups is production. There are,
for example: Smallboats, boatdesign, openboat, and microboat. The
latter is new and is oriented to small boat camping. There are the
usenet boating lists on racing and cruising. There are multihull
lists.
These lists (and MAIB) are among the only places where talk of small,
inexpensive boats dominates talk of big, expensive boats. They are
serving a useful function.
