lighter weight when towing. As far interior size Jim's design looks like it
provides allot of space. The gaft rig also looks like it would be easier to
setup and take down. On the whole I think the Musicbox3 would be a better
trailer boat than Micro. This of course may be unfair to Micro because it is
not really designed as a trailer boat.

you don't have to be in Texas to be nuts!
I've got a Micro keel on my back porch right now. It
*is* an imposing mass to move around. Just ask Stan
Muller who helped me load it on my trailer. That
wasn't any fun. Even though I already have my Micro
keel ready made, I still feel some anxiety about it.
Getting it into it's slot in the keel is not something
I look foward to.
JB in Kennesaw who is experiencing epoxy anxiety
today, since the glue on his scarfed gunwales and
chine logs is still rubbery after 18 hours. It *was*
the slow hardener, but come on!

> If the keel is the only thing putting you off the Micro...Do I remember correctly that, once upon a time, someone tried calling
a local provided for the sort of lead shielding that is used in
doctor's offices for x-ray rooms, etc. They were very flexible.
It is very possible that you could buy a lead sheet of the right
thickness, and all you would have to do is cut out the profile. The
vendor would buy back the scrap. A lead keel without melted lead.

Hi Michael,
If the keel is the only thing putting you off the Micro, You could
always leave the inside of the plywood box keel open, and fill it with
wheel weights potted in a mix of polyester rosin and finely crushed lime
stone. The weight would be over a longer fore to aft distance, but I
think it would work. If the total weight comes up short, then add a 2 x
1/2 full length iron shoe. Comments group?
As far as the Musicbox3 is concerned, if it is a Michalak design, I'm
sure it is a good boat. The only problem would be that deep down, you'll
always be haunted with the idea knowing that you could have had a Micro.
Correct me if I'm wrong, group, but I don't know of anyone ever being
sorry that they built a Micro. From the time that it goes 3 D, when you
are blown away with how much room there is, till the time when you are
out in a blow and you feel how stable she is, the Micro doesn't let you
down.
I hope other unbiased group members will add to this thread, as it
would be nice to hear from somebody that knows more about the Musicbox3.
Unbiased Stan, Snow Goose.
