Re: [bolger] Re: MJ sponsons
I have always thought that I would use Plat Monfort's Classic 10 at his web page
http://www.geodesicairoliteboats.com/
If I ever build a small (less than 30') sailboat this is my choice.
At 27 lbs it offers minimum drag, I thought that you could put it right up against the stern quarter
in really heavy going to windward. If you were going down wind it might kite on you, I haven't
thought of a solution to that one yet.
One of the boats fairly high on my list to get built before I go to the great boatshop in the sky is
a Tumlaren. This would be my choice for a dingy.
I have always towed my dinghy's, if the weather is to bad to tow a dingy in it is to bad to be out
in. I have always been prepared to cut them loose, I figure the loss would more than be compensated
for by not having to deal with a Zodiac type.

Hi -
That sounds like a lot of dingy. I am building a Nymph for to use as
a dingy for my MJ.

I think I would be a skeptic about this plan - but that's just my opinion.

Since launching my MJ a few months ago, I have
kept it anchored in a creek close by. Being the only boat of this size in
the creek that can come and go even at low tide, I have been able to use it
quite frequently.
The only problem is that you need a dinghy to
get out to it. And then either have to leave the dinghy on the beach or tow it
behind.
The MJ was built to the original design, and I
would like to add the sponsons at some stage. While motoring back

Has anyone any ideas where to look for an
existing kayak or winsurfer design that may be suitable.
