Good Skiffs

A good skiff is a fine thing, IMHO. I'm a great fan of them, there's
something quite elegant about making a good looking boat out of just a few
elements. I picked up this guy's design catalog a while back. I've seen a
couple of his skiffs in person and think he's got a very good eye for them.
He's a fellow Oregonian too, which is worth something! <g> Swan's boats
aren't "Bolgeresque" but they are easy to build.

Billy and John Atkin also drew nice skiffs, and Edwin Monk of course (an
admitted inspiration to Ken Swan). Pete Culler designed some pretty skiffs,
but they look like East Coast fair weather boats to me. I stumbled (almost
literally!) upon a derelict Culler skiff up Yaquina Bay and it looked like
an exciting boat, long, low and lean, but I'm getting too old for
excitement. <g>

I suppose I should also mention the designer of a current favorite, my
beloved Pickle. Another Oregonian:
