[bolger] Re: Size of screws

Dear Bjorn, The shank of a #10 screw is approximately 3/16 of an inch and a
#9 is about 5/32nds. The Jamestown Distributors catalog,
www.jamestowndistributors.com has a to scale drawing on page 3.

Dear Boat Building Friends,
Progress of WDJ Schooner in Oslo is slow due to snow and cold weather.
Anyway, in a few days I will move into my new house where I have space
to produce many of the relatively small bits and pieces like rudder,
skeg, leeboards, tabernacles etc. The sails have arrived and the price
I paid is a very strong reason to finish the project...
PCB is quite specific abt screws. The flat headed screws which fasten
the mast and tabernacle plates are supposed to be #9 and #10. Here in
millimeter country nobody (at least I don't) understands what this
means. I reckon it has to do with the diameter of the shank because the
length of the screws are given in inches and eighths.
Would somebody please explain this to me?
