Re: [bolger] Aluminium and AS29

Ramon Gandia of Nome Alaska is building a 50 ft sharpie with a Chinese
Gaffer rig out of Aluminum. He has the hull together, and has it decked,
but has come to a halt for a few years because of financial reasons and
demands from a new business that he started. I have some pictures that I
should take down to Fritz to get scanned for the files, especially for
those who are getting tired of the same old designs. Bolger designed it
for Aluminum construction.
Aluminum has a lot going for it as a boat material, but it is very
expensive, and takes skill to weld properly. Ramon used professional
equipment and had professional instruction, but he started with zero
experience and has done an excellent job so far.

Does anyone know of an AS29 built in Aluminium or any other Bolger
design? Someone put me on to this material due to its ease of
maintenance.
