I have made the following observations after having
the boat in the water two times:
1. The paint has not washed off yet.
2. The paint has rubbed off where the
trailer bunks contact the boat, and
where the boat contacted a concrete
pier.
3. The black marks from rubber dock fendering
and the waterline scum marks are harder to
clean off than with a real glossy paint.
4. I think I could lightly sand and roll a
new coat of latex on the topsides in
less time than it would take to clean the
smudges off the glossy paint.
5. If I were spending mucho dinero for BS 1088
Okume plywood, I would probably use an
expensive marine paint.
6. If I build another boat out of cheapo plywood,
i will again use cheapo paint.
7. Final observation- the AF4 is a great boat.

That had to be Max W., who is on this group.

Did you paint over epoxy/fiberglass? If so what did you prime with? Any problems or further thoughts?

I should have some pictures taken that day,
as well as a photo or two of the "galley unit"
I have just finished up for it, on about
Thursday of this week. I intend to post them
in the "microboats" group, since there seems to
be some movement to try to keep the Bolger group
focused on Bolger things.
I am planning on bringing it to the Rend Lake
Messabout June 9th.
By the way, that is Behr acrylic latex "Charles
River" blue.

I thought I saw an AF4 on a trailer heading west into St. Louis at
about 5PM on Good Friday. Looked like a pale blue hull and a white
deck. Did that belong to anyone in the group and is there any way to
get a look at it at a closing speed less than 100 mph?
Thanks,
Mark
