1/4 " Plywood lapstrake with 3/4 "Spacer" "Between" plywood.
I asked once before, and am going to ask one last time if anyone
has experiences with placing 3/4" stinger between 1/4" plywood
"lapstrakes" to give apperance of 1" stakes, and additional
stiffness. I have been told that it is not done, but if anyone
is familiar with "Clipper Craft" wooden boats, built in Portland
Oregon, please chime in.
There is a poor picture of a Clipper Craft showing result at
http://www.photoboatbuys.com/html/contactpower68.htmland my
rough drawing of said process is in my Bolger files at
http://www.egroups.co.uk/files/bolger/Toad/Lap%20%20Sides%20.JPG
Any help would be appriciated.
I am trying to figure out how to get laps, with spacers, down to an
acceptable width at bow.
If no help in a few days, I will dump my drawing to make room in
the files area.
Thanks to anybody who knows of this precedure. Does make very
strong, stiff hull from relativly thin plywood.
