Re: [bolger] Fern Ridge Lake (Oregon) Messabout May 19

Thanks for the work, John.
Dexter is a nice place -- a while back (a fair while back) I sailed there as
a college student. I remember it to be a very pretty lake.
Plan to see you there.

Due to drought here in Oregon Fern Ridge is about 9 feet below normal level
and if we're lucky (and we haven't been) will only rise another foot by the
middle of May, and then they'll start letting the water out for irrigation
downstream. :o( There's enough water in the lake for boating, but the level
is barely touching the bottoms of the launch ramps, so only very small
boats can be launched. So, I've decided to move the Spring Messabout to
Dexter Lake, which should have ample water in it (and motorboats too
<shrug>). Dexter lake is about 15 miles southeast of Eugene on Highway 58.
The Messabout will be at Lowell State Park just west of Lowell on the north
side of the lake. Festivities will begin at about 10:00 AM on Saturday, May
19. Bring your own food and refreshments. No fees - no prizes - no rules,
etc. etc.

You can find out more about Oregon reservoir levels here:

Hope to see you at the Messabout!

"Necessity is the mother of futile dodges" is much nearer the truth.
