What's going on. I really appreciate that Mr. Bolger showed up. I respect
his talent and the simplicity of his designs, but could we please get back to
the discussion at hand, which is building our boats, modifications to
original plans, rigs, etc. I love hearing about alterations to existing
plans, others experiences with tools/materials, etc. Let's not get side
tracked people, please.

Hi Bruce:

I don't think you offended anyone. Actually, you asked some questions I
might have asked :).

The overall idea (after the collective intake of breath) was to make sure
Phil & friends felt comfortable here in an active role, and to allow them to
define their role, as they see fit.

Kudos to our moderator, Gregg "Hulls" Carlson for stating the overall goal.

As to your questions about the 15'work skiff: I bought these plans at the
same time I bought those of Windsprint. I decided to build the Windsprint
first, as I really wanted to see if I could build a boat that would actually
sail. When looking at the work skiff plans, the first thing I noticed was a
lack of permanent molds/bulkheads frames, compared to one of the skiffs
meant to be built in 1/4. Adding up all the plywood, this thing will be
HEAVY. Which is actually what I want to replace an aluminum boat that is
just too light for Tampa Bay. Based on looking at the plans, I think 3/8
(if you could get some good 3/8) would work; To use 1/4" you'd probably
want to add a more significant gunwale structure (just add another course of
gunwale, in and out). I'd probably keep the 1/2 or at least 3/8 in the
bottom (its layered). Never know where you'll find a rock.

Ditto! to John

I really enjoy the thoughtful (and not so thoughtful responses that go into
this forum. Its part of what this hobby (obsession?) is all about. And 99%
of the time I learn from others ideas, errors, etc, something completely
unrelated to the boat I'm building. Made up boats, solutions, modifications
etc and the like are one of the things that make this fun. With that said,
if PCB&F lurk or have announcements, or see the group on a completely bad,
destructive and unsafe chain of logic, by all means, set us straight. the
idea is to let them participate to the extent they can.

Previously, someone mentioned possibly the existence of a price list. Might
I suggest and upload to the vault? everyone can peruse this simple document.
Food for thought.
