Re: [bolger] Depoe Bay Photos

Nice pix! Christie, the boat about whose ownership you wonder, was built by
Sam Johnson of Portland, from lines of a San Francisco whitehall from the
1890s. See "Launchings" in the latest Wooden Boat. Christie is also the
boat in my Messabout poster! What a surprise to run into my poster boat at
Depoe Bay, I'd taken the picture at Port Townsend but never got closer than
that telephoto shot. I grabbed a poster and compared it to Christie and
sure enough, it was the same boat!

My own Depoe Bay pictures will be online in a day or two.

One must have a heart of stone to read the death of Little Nell by
Dickens without laughing. <Oscar Wilde>
A very nice display of photos, Larry. Shows we have many, many boats
to be proud of here on the Wet Coast.

John-
You got some great shots! Of course I especially like the ones of Pickle.
<g> Here are a few additions to your captions, all in pack 2:
The little dinghy in the first shot is indeed Bob Larkin's Microwave.
The "beautiful dory" is Bryn Thoms' Gloucester Gull, bought for $150! I
don't know how much work he put into it after he got it. I saw it from a
distance shortly after he got it, but I was busy getting my boat ready to
launch and it, and Bryn, had disappeared when I was done. I hope he shows
up for the Messabout next weekend so I can talk to him some more about it.
The carved transom is on Einar Skovbo's dinghy. He's a Scandihoovian from
Junction City (lots of 'em up there) who's a regular at the festival.
Perhaps you could tell the folks who some of the other Bolger boat buffs in
the pictures are?

Correlation does not imply causation; except, of course, to your cat.

Ok John,
You've shamed me into getting busy and putting some pictures up from Depoe

John,
Nice shots, thanks for putting them up. I'll try and get mine up soon.
The sun is out and I'm way behind in my irrigation so it's going to have to
wait a couple of days.
That was a great weekend -- it was good to see you all.
