on 1 or both sides. It is higher quality exterior fir plywood made for
exterior plywood signage and other (?) uses. The MDO surface is flat and
SMOOTH, making that side easy to paint with good results. I am using single
sided MDO on the current boat under construction with the fir side out,
since that will be fiberglassed. The interior (MDO) will be epoxy coated.
good results, but coated both side with an epoxy sealing coat. The boats
were only taped at the chines and stems. They are holding up under rough
(read that as we don't care what they look like so we crash into lots of
stuff) usage. But.....
I have also used Lauan to cover lumber drying racks in the open with
nothing on the lauan and it comes COMPLETELY apart in about 6 months. It
apparently must be sealed. Now use pine ACX and it is lasting much better.
UV damage, but no delamination.
fine. The Flint river's rocks will scrape off almost any kind of paint and
the latex is easy to recoat.
