Re: A Question of Weight

6mm is equal to .236 inches or .945% of 1/4" say .945*25=23.85#. Since
Jim Michalaks numbers are rough approximations I would use the same
numbers ie 6mm=25# etc. The difference is minor (.055%). I assume the
numbers Jim Michalak uses consider waste, glue, paint, framing etc.
Perhaps when you're done with your estimate using Jim's figures you
can just deduct the .055% if you are really concerned about it.

Subject: [bolger] A Question of Weight

Okay, I think I have a better question this time. In April '99,
Jim Michalak wrote a piece about calculating weight based on the
amount of plywood in the boat. His figures were:
1/4" = 25 lbs per sheet
3/8" = 37 lbs per sheet
1/2" = 50 lbs per sheet
Question: What is the weight per sheet of 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm okume
or other marine plywoods per sheet?
