swarming up and down the beach about 800 yards out, my reels on my
surfcasting and trolling rods are freshly spooled with new line, and
I finally got a casting reel to put on a stealhead rod that will make
a great outfit for casting to fish from my little boat.
But this wind!!! Fish, lots of fish within easy range, but I dare not
with this offshore breeze. Too much wind to solo the scooner either.
Wind is supposed to drop this evening, but there's rain on the way.
Aargh! I already mowed the lawn, I might be force to paint (!)

I thought the entire point of groups like this is to lead people INTO
temptation. Just like me to miss the point. However, the forecast for
today is winds down to about 15, and with some of the weird solar
radiation that we have had so little of lately.
But still cold for the end of May. I'm going racing tonight and it
could be in the 50's by the time we get in. I may lose all feeling in
my fingertips before we get to the weather mark.

We've been suffering through a bout of too much wind for the last
week, first out of the East and now from the Northwest.
There are huge schools of bass just off the beach singing a siren's
song. But I know if I go out after them I'm liable to end up in
Portugal.
I busied myself by remaking the boom and gaff jaws for the LSME. I
added 1/2 inch "cheeks" under each side of the 1/2 inch piece shown
on the plan. Makes for a much beefier jaw, and the broader surface
rides up and down the mast much better. Maybe these will last longer
than a season.
Meanwhile, the LSME seems to be riding out the 2 foot chop on the
lake with style. She's bounding over the crests and her mooring
doesn't appear to have dragged. As predicted, the pendant is fraying
a bit, but I think smoothing the opening in the sprit that it passes
through will help with that.
