Stuart,
You may wish to check out Bolgers CHAMPLAIN design.Very nice for
canal work and apparently capable of somewhat extended cruising
without too much dependence on shore-side facilities.

http://mkstocks.tripod.com/boats/champlain/index.htm

Also, check out file section where I posted a few pictures of a
CHAMPLAIN under construction. For all of her"shortness"(22.5') she has
an incredible amount of interior volume.
Happy dreams!

Sort of. Try this:

Anyone familiar with design and style will recognize Craig O'Donnell's
cleaning up of the design for web appearance. I do not think it was ever
built, or fully thought out.

I have data convincingly disconfirming the Duhem-Quine hypothesis.
I now have some strong inspiration to finish Cynthia J. Topaz looks
spectacular.

There is a scan of the Bantam under bantam_16_20 in the files
section. I would judge that it does not have the carrying capacity or
stowage for what you have in mind. Most of the places that look like
a good place for a locker (e.g. under the seats) turn out to be
outside the boat. Incidently, the name is due to the fact that the
first 4' of nose is removeable, leaving a trailer length of 16'.

For Topaz info, go to www.duckworks.com, click on ARTICLES, then
lookd for the Topaz contributions by Brad Raby. Be prepared to be
inspired.

I know that he's working on at least one ocean capable canal cruiser.

Phil Smith
What I meant by holiday style was something comfortable and dry enough to
stay on for a few weeks, without the expense and permanence
of a house boat. I realize everyone has a different definition of what that
means. Do you have any more info on Bantam 16/20 or topaz?
Cheers

I am not sure what you mean by holiday style, but there are several
Bolger Boats that would be great for canals. The Bantam 16/20 is a
20' trimaran (sort of home-build cathedral hull) for rivers and
canals. Topaz would be a great canal boat.

Has Bolger designed any boats for cruising canal holiday style?

Stuart crawford
Many have said that Loose Moose 2 that Phil designed for us was a great
canal boat having cruised 1500 miles of european canals before we took off
sailing!
