Hi Chris --

I'd feel a little weird posting all the pages for those boats in
their entirety. It'd be too flagrant a violation of Bolger's
copyright. But maybe I could post a low-res image file of just the
lines drawing for each -- would that suffice? Or send me your mailing
address and I could photocopy them and mail them to you. It's a fine
line to draw -- probably an absurd line to draw -- but I'd feel more
comfortable doing that.

All best,
Garth

Post them on Bolger2?

Can't get Diff Boats anywhere around here....

I like 30-Odd Boats a lot -- but maybe you should try to get it via
inter-library loan first, and then decide on the purchase.

It has full building plans and notes for "Skillygallee," a nice-
looking 29' cruising sharpie.

"June Bug" is in there, but you can get those plans elsewhere (New
Instant Boats?)

The 19' "Sparkler" is unique to this book, I think -- Bolger's
instant-boat knockoff of the Lightning. Strange that no one every
really talks about this one. I've been very tempted to make one --
but first . . . must . . build . . . lapstrake . . . Chebacco. So
many boats, so little time!

The Light Schooner is also included -- but again you can get that in
Build the New Instant Boats.

One real heart-throb is "Burgundy," a 28' Bolger version of the
Herreshoff Rozinante yawl.

Here -- I just threw the book into my scanner and did OCR for the
full list:

Eeek! 11'6" sailing pirogue
Dynamite 15'11" free-sail board
June Bug 14' rowing/sailing yacht tender
Fiddler II 15'10" marine van
Sparkler 19'daysailer
Scooner 23'6" light schooner
Sharpshooter 23' outboard utility
Viper 20'2" 1910 racing powerboat
Firebrand 26'6" racing steam launch
Burgundy 28' keel daysailer
Wish II 20' leeboard cruising sharpie
Jessie Cooper 25'6" cruising sharpie
Skillygalee 29'centerboard cruising sharpie
Lion's Paw 38'9" steel sharpie schooner
Lake Launch 44'11"
Currach 24' steel outboard utility
Charity 25'6" aluminum beach landing boat
Quest 38' aluminum research cruiser
Mikim 24' inboard day cruiser
Libboo 25'6" heavy-weather power cruiser
Shadow 25'6" fast camping cruiser
Flying Splinter 29'6" fast outboard auxiliary
Yorkhaven 30 30'2" toumament sportfishing boat
Sea Hawk 38' power cruiser
Lobsterboat 32'
Cagliostro 41'4" open-water utility
Swallow 12' keel sailing dinggy with a yuloh
Bow-Steering Update
Fancy 157" gaff centerboard sloop
Wisp 20' beach cruiser
Keel Whaler Sloop 20'
Pico 21'4" leeboard daysailing sloop
Africa 28'8" gaff cruising cutter
Palo de Agua 35'4" Caribbean singlehander
Apogee 38' aluminum leeboard cruising ketch
Hesperus 45' vintage ocean racer
Titania 50' shoal-draft schooner
Tonweya 50' Chinese-rigged luxury cruiser
Rose 115' full-rigged ship

Material for much dreaming. Construction plans and/or offsets
included for almost all of them, and lots of Bolger discourse.

Anyway -- I got my copy about a year ago from Powell's for $15 I
think. It's worth lurking about on bookfinder.com and waiting for a
cheap copy to come available. Right now they're all listed at $60 and
up. Though maybe the booksellers wised up to its rarity and it'll
never go for $15 again . . . The double-edged sword of internet
bookselling -- everything is available, but the efficiency of the
market wipes out any priced-in-ignorance screaming bargains.

All best,
Garth
No.

I have a combo copy of small boats and 30 odd boats. I found it to be
full of PCB's earlier designs. I.E., less inovative, more mainstream.
For instance, he echos the dogma that a sharpie should have round
bilges...

I have never read 30 odd boats, but I found a copy, online, for $65.
