My point was that in Australian dollars, that comes out at $450+ or
$150+, which already looks like a big margin if one doesn't watch
closely which $ it is (and not so long ago the Oz dollar was where the
NZ dollar is now, at around $US 0.50, which would turn those figures
into $600 and $200 on xchange alone). This is not a comment in support
of rip-off markups over and above exchange rate variation, or "add-on"
plans at a premium, just a statement.

Phil, Susanne, I think your friends down under have in fact got your
perspective very clear indeed, but please keep in mind that you do
actually have friends down under who =aren't= trying to rip you off,
hmm? We're not =all= Olympic Games organisers here...

Yeah. So did the horse and buggy!

Much as I would like to see an excellent web site (a bad one is worse than
no website, IMHO), there is a charm to waiting, and old-fashioned U.S.
Mail, and interacting with people. I like it, and it's up to the designer
to do his business.

So, my preference is the U.S. Mail. It's worked in the past!

Well, boat builders are notoriously cheap, I would say.

Still, a consultation fee can be stiff, for some of us.
That's what a catalog of plans avoids--fixed prices for a fixed design.

I sympatize with anyone trying to protect their own time to do what they
do best, and do what they like doing.

I have data convincingly disconfirming the Duhem-Quine hypothesis.
Phil - being Italian I may well miss some subtle details in your
writings.
Now, to be sure, I'd like to know whether CSB is formally authorized to
sell your plans or not. I'm asking this because I've a link to them on
my Web page devoted to Micro, so I'm wondering whether I should keep
that on or rather replace it with your snail mail address. In both
cases, I would add your address as well, so could you please tell me
your up-to-date snail-mail address and the current cost of one set
Micro (#422) plans?
Thanks in advance, and best

Dept. 'Joyous' NEWS etc.: 103 Rigs is the only version currently in
print - apart from some left-overs somewhere. 103 RIGS is now
published by yours truly and can of course be gotten straight from us.
One and about another half of manuscripts are in high form of
fermentation...

Dept. MAALOX-moments and subsequently necessary grief-reduction:
- Current exchange rate US$ to Aus$ is about 1 : 1.57. Stock #520
WYOMING plans are and have been for quite a while to the general public
US $300.-, with #359 TENNESSE being US$100.-. When we see them resold
for de facto twice that give or take, it is worthwhile pointing out our
perspective on this to all friends down-under.
- Then bear in mind that for many years they were sold south in sweet
deals with CSD during which we either saw NOTHING at all or what can at
best be a nominal royalty. Neither party in that deal ever felt
compelled to ask us about whether we might have any interest in such
proceedings.
That went on for years with details only gradually trickling in here -
Bolger can be too trusting at times. So you figure a nominal royalty
shrunk further by folksy 'sales'-events and confidential proceedings
with whomever was ready to sell the fruits of our work somewhere and
not much happens below the summation-line - for us that is! We have
lost serious money here - never mind receiving instead the grief from
ingratitude and imaginative reasoning when we eventually ask questions.
With Oregon doing well for years at our expense, it is certainly
economically feasible to be very 'supportive' to customers in person
and newsletters - between running ads and printing plans you can
squeeze that in somewhere; fortunately you don't have to draw up the
stuff... A somewhat shortsighted approach in terms of keeping us happy
but no doubt a useful sales' exercise typically paired with pronouced
whiffs of decided, no indispensable (!) importance to the very
well-being of Bolger. You should have heard and read some of those
one-liners... Payson is a personal friend, and other than that we're
fine without a supporting cast of folks that go quite far to make more
money of our work that we ever ask for!

- We should be done now with self-obsessive grief-regurgitation - GOOD
GRIEF!!

Dept. PLANS-SUPPORT:
- We print from clean masters.
- If necessary (corrections) or at least amusing (upgrades), changes
are incorporated in those master plans.
- Some people trust their barber more than us on such matters, but
significant alterations of our plans can always be run by us, with
costs, if any, exceedingly minor in comparison to the possible losses
incurred in utility/budget/ergonomics of Enhanced White Elephantitus
Syndrome.
- Since the early 1950s this office has answered mail with usually only
the incomprehensible missives finding their way into the bottomless
circular file. Should there happen to be occasionally no answer, write
again, as we are booked ahead many moonphases with both frivolous and
quite serious commissions - and sometimes things get lost on the way,
or 'the cats ate our homework'... Since everyone here in this forum is
equipped for the online experience, consider that in more serious
direct dealings with us a moderate consultation-fee will really get our
attention and your letter/fax to the upper end of the correspondence
pile. We periodically do some sort of de facto pro-bono work but WE
pick and choose our targets of such impulses...

NEWSBREAK: Numerous new and or unpublished designs coming...

Anyway,on with the dance.
