Plywood masts

Masts were often made (1950s/60s)in box sections with tree-wood front and
back, and plywood sides. This allowed for halyards etc to pass inside the
mast.

The snag is that all these masts were designed for boats that use
shrouds/spreaders to support them. They were the low-tech equivalent of
hollow aluminium spars.

So - if you plan to use shrouds, it might work out. Otherwise, I suspect
not . . .
