[bolger] Re: Bolger accessibility, was: Bolger on Tariffs and Trades
I recently bought PB&F's plans for Tennessee, using the fax number
(508-282-1349) to request a quote. I received a phone quote the next day,
ordered the plans same day, received in a week postpaid - with a note from
Mr. Bolger giving some pointers/cautions on how to realize the potential of
the design (build it light, as designed). Now, this is not one-click at
Amazon.com, but it is good service.
My point: The fax contact may be considered quaint today, but it takes
several days out of the mail cycle. I agree that a catalog a la James
Wharram would be helpful (and probably profitable if offered for, say $10
US).
Although it looks like my next project will not be a Bolger, it is not from
any dissatisfaction; I just couldn't live with the limited speed potential
of Tennessee and elected to build a smaller, sturdier, planing boat not
available in PCB's repertoire. (Sweet Caroline from Glen-L, $71 US, ordered
on the
web from a site with lots of mostly irrelevant designs, kits and materials,
and excellent builder feedback photos ). www.glen-l.com Received in four
days...
