Re: Sanding
Small modification to my comment. I have thier tap and drill sets,
haven't had any problems with them not attributable to operator
error. I sharpen all my drillbits when needed, so I don't know if
american made ones would stay sharper longer.

I second that. I buy a lot of tools at HF, but would recommend that
you get all your blades, belts, and disks from a good American
manufacturer.
Ex: tried to save money buying hacksaw blades, bougth one of thier
box of 50 blades. They last about 45 seconds each before they are
useless. Total junk.
Ex: Abrasive disks for circular saw. HF brand, for 99 cents, lasts
about three cuts. Home Depot brand for about $2.99, works for about
24 cuts.
RE: the tools themselves, the consensus on the 7x10 minilathe egroup
is that HF has nice tools, IF you consider them to be a kit and
dissasemble them, fix all the screwups, and put them back together.

Hi Bill,
Until I bought my first box of 'good' disks, I did not appreciate the
difference getween them and the 'run of the mill'. The good disks did
not load up as much and lasted far longer. At the time I was sanding a
cedar strip canoe. Here is the URL dor their disks:

I do not work for them, just a satisfied customer.

Take a look at the Harbor Freight catalogue for sanding disks and belts at
reasonable prices. 1-800-423-2587 will get you on their catalogue list.
I have bought a bunch of stuff from them besides sanding stuff, and their
prices are marvelous and most of what I buy is very, very good for the price.
