Re: Hooray for Bolger Boats!

David,
While one is never too old to discover the blessed beauty of
building ones own boat,it is best to get the bug at a more tender age
while there is still room to grow.Good going on your
daughter!!Brilliant!!Who knows, one day she too will be posting!!:-D

Hmm, I don't remember the bit in the instructions where it said to
fair the hull with your teeth.

Sorry, couldn't resist; no harm intended.
Well, I just had a perfect day. I got to play in Pointy Skiff, and
Diablo all in a day.

My 6 year old daughter and I launched Diablo in Allen Harbor in
Harwichport where she will occupy the mooring space until "Firefly"
is launched. While there, we used our time to fish for Stripers.
Well, no stripers, but a boatload of fluke! We then rowed back in
the 10 year old Pointy Skiff (boy is it beat up). After arriving
back at home we repaired a huge crack in the luan ply that formed top
to bottom about 1 foot in front of the middle thwart. Ten minutes
with the right angle grinder, and then another half hour of glassing
and we are set for another season. I think that my daughter is
hooked on boats for life.

It is obviously time to pick up a carload of AC ply and start over
again. Maybe this time it will be the Dory type 5. I think it is
funny how little discussion of this boat there is in the group. I
think it has lots of potential for a lot of builders and families.
