Re: leeboard release - Chuck

Jam cleat would work good, you could adjust for halfway board down,
and still have kick-up capability. When it pulled off the thumb, it
would pull out of the jam cleat, assuming it was in line with the
line from leeboard to thumb.

I'm going to use something similar for the centerboard for the light
cruiser.

You got it, Richard. Obviously, if you tie a clove hitch to the thumb, it
won't want to let go. I guess I could install a jamb cleat so that you went
from the leeboard - around the thumb - and back to the jamb cleat.

Just a loop in the rope at the right place, that is hooked over the
thumb? With enough extra size in the loop so it slips off the thumb
easily when it turns sideways?
