Re: OT: SBJ issues

My shelves aren't exactly neat so not every issue is in order. But issue
72, May 1990 was still called Small Boat Journal, though the spirit was
already changing as shown by the bass boats on the cover ("Fish Stalkers"
as they called them). By fall, the November 1990 issue, #75, had dropped
the word small and added the subtitle "The Magazine of Small-Craft Owners &
Builders". Still had a Bolger column. My copy of September 1991, now
called "Boating World", still has the mailing wrapper which includes "If
you're a Boat Journal subscriber, you're probably wondering how a magazine
called Boating WOrld wound up in your mailbox."

"Are we a new magazine? No, we've just changed our name."

They go on to make it clear that the publisher had bought the subscriber
list of "Motorboat" magazine and effectively merged the two titles. But
the table of contents shows no sign of anything by bolger and nothign about
boat design or building. The focus is now on buying, using, and maintaining
plastic and aluminum boats.

My run is close to complete though I'm missing a few and do have some
duplicates. I'd be glad to trade if anyone wants to email me a list of
either what they have to get rid of or what they need. I am also in need
of issues number 128 through 139 of Woodenboat. Please let me know if
you'd like to part with any of those.

Sorry Chris,
I really don't know how many they actually published, I gave up
when they sold their souls to the rock and roll world of cookie
cutter fiberglass boats. I think the article featuring the 28 foot
center console fishing machine is what finally did me in.
I have a whole stack of these that I refuse to part with, but if
there are particular articles you would like to see, I can scan them
in and send them to you. I have already found the "Hindenburg knot"
and and article of one of Sam Devlin's boats for other readers.

The named changed to just Boat Journal. It was 10 years ago
and I am still bitter. The last issue of Small Boat Journal
was some where around 70. I can dig into my back issue box
and find out here in a day or so if nobody else has the
answer.

I have a "Boat Journal" for July 1991 which is number 79. The next
issue in my pile is "Boating World" for September 1991 which is
number 80. I think I have all the issues, but they are not for sale
at this time.

I have 10 years worth of Multihulls Mag that I will sell if anyone is
interested.

Boat Journal.

I got 75% refund on my subscription when I cancelled.
Fought to get it, but proud of the eight bucks or so I got back.
Does anybody know how many issues of "Small Boat Journal" were
published? There was a "pilot issue", then they started at "1" and
went to "??".......?
Just out of curiosity, what was the name changed to when the
magazine was ruined ?

Best to all,
