Ok Bernie! Do you just leave the screws in & cut-sand down any protruding
ends? I am abiut ready to cut & fit the lower hull chines, if i get any time
over the (promised) 3 day weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) unless "bossey" makes us work
Friday. It's all sitting on top pf Windsprint out under the silver tarp,
fence rail, picknic shelter out back. If it doesn't rain i hope to get the
chines done & rest of the frames glued up.
I can't wait to get her done & sailing and see the :"what the hell is that"
looks on the windsurfers faces down at the local "flats" as they sail by me,
with a cold CokaCola in my hand...na na na na....
:-)
It was a beautiful day for sailing this last Sunday. Wind but no chop...blue
sky...white puffy clouds.....floating bath tubs everywhere....
:-)

That's good Curtis 'cause that's basically what i planned to do. Unless
Weldwood has been changed from the formula used back in the 1960s the wood
will break before the Weldwood. We used it on the ply-boat runabout we
rebuilt back in the late 1960s (1967-68) or so. That was one fun little 12'
6" boat.

Larry,
This is almost a philosophical question, which is, is BRICK a throw
away boat? I have built BRICKS out of nothing but CDX plywood, pine
scraps, roofing nails and Weldwood to actually epoxy/taping the outside
of the chine and side transom seam and painting with left over enamel.
I have never built a "gold plater" BRICK, and that is my answer to the
philosophical question. I think BRICK is about as close to a throw away
boat as you can get. Please do no imply from this that I have any
pejorative thoughts towards BRICK. It is just that BRICK delivers more
joy for less concern than any other boat. The one justification I can
see for building a fancy BRICK is to practice fancy techniques.
A building tip, I use sheet rock screws and a drill motor instead of
clamps. They are cheaper, faster and hold in more situations than
