Good afternoon:

Nice look'n boat, and a worthy addition to the growing fleet of
AF4 power skiffs. A relatively easy-to-build, quick-to-build boat
that can be very nice looking (witness your photos) and is very
efficient to run.

Any problems working with the MDO? I went out and bought 2
sheets of 3/8" single-sided MDO today. Cost was about 34 bucks
per sheet, wieght about 34 lbs each. Lots and lots of knots on
the "bad" side, but no "football" patches. Stamped APA BC exterior.
Some small voids evident on the edges in places. Planning on doing
some experimenting with these sheets.

I don't suppose that you weighed it?

I am hoping that the MDO will be the "middle Ground" between
3/8" BC pine ($13.00) and 3/8" AC fir ($18.00); and 3/8" AB marine
fir ($52.00) and 3/8" occume ($60.00 plus shipping.)

Again, nice look'n boat; looking forward to reports of sea
trials!

Max
To all who offered kind words of congratulations, thanks!

Yes, the moon and stars are stencils. I'm not totally committed to the ones
in the cuddy myself, but I do like the design on the topsides. But even so,
they add an air of whimsy to her. Everything else about how we decorate our
boats is so conventional and within such narrow bounds, it was fun to try
something you don't see every day on a boat. It will be an interesting study
to gauge people's reactions when they see how I've done her up. Wait until
you see the purple awning fabric that was donated to be made into the
slot-top cover and bimini! Either it will be an exercise in bad taste (my
wife's reaction) or it will be start of a new trend!

Best,

JB

I

Still working on the motor and trailer, but the boat is done enough to
launch.
