RE: [bolger] tiller control

Richard:

You are correct. In fact, what I did was to cleat the line so that it was
straight when the tiller was at about 20 degrees. (Because of the angle,
you can't see this in the photo) This means that there is slightly greater
tension when the tiller is centered, and at 40 degrees which is the most I
usually turn it. The reality is that I can not tell any difference.
Perhaps that is due to the elasticity of the nylon line.

Chuck, in the pictures of the tiller control line on your boat:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bolger2/files/tiller_control_device/

Noticed this on mine, and on my friends MacGreggor. The tiller moves
in an arc, the control line runs in a line.

This causes issues with the last part of the tiller motion.

Wouldn't it be better to cleat on the gunnels close to where the
tiller is when it's hard over? And/or, move the eye on the tiller
forward so it is right next to the cleats on the gun'als with the
tiller hard over? This would make it look like a shallow "V" instead
of a line...?
