Re: Reminder - LAKE CHAMPLAIN BOLGER MESSABOUT

Ok, same place. Martin Luther King weekend in January. We will
launch off the beach with cradles on skids. I think that some scrap
iron plate and an arc welder may be in order. I could add a layer of
1/4" iron plating to the bottom of Firefly, or maybe just a pair of
skis on each side to go iceboating!
Hmmm...this just might work.

Bring your icebreaker and then the fellow that had designed the small
aircraft carrier can join us. We will then be prepared to defend the
Champlain Basin. With the way things are going in this country we
all may have to have our boats commissioned for active duty.

Well now,we could have a combination of blade and ski to help
skip over the snowy parts with some sort of big but easily reefed rig
to turn on the power going through the drifts.
Anti-freeze! But of course.....up here we call it Caribou and
folks that attend the winter carnavel consume this juice by the
bucket full!!!!No one ever gets cold!!

Usually that ice has a layer of snow on top of it, or frozen into it.
Iceboats only get to go out occasionally. Maybe the great man could
invent a sailing vehicle happy on ice, snow, or crust.

As for the ice fishermen; proper ice fishermen fill themselves with
antifreeze and inhabit ice fishing shanties which probably have
heaters in them. At least that's the way I remember it. Our crazy
family, on the other hand, would fish outside. Got bored and made ice
pool table with the auger. Was still bored. Now my old man can see his
tip up from inside the house. But it's not on Samuel's lake.

Lincoln,
The ice breaker is neat but I would have thought about the idea
of getting a bunch of us to build a fleet of Bolgers 2-seater iceboat
(BWAOM) so that we could fly up and down the lake terrorizing the ice
fisherman!
On the other hand,an ice breaker could be just as much fun with
the fisherman and they wouldn't have to go drilling all those little
holes everywhere!
Your idea for a second reminder......well you can imagine the
royal screw up and confusion this may cause at Yahoo.
By the way,I have nothing against ice-fisherman as such,it is
just that I prefer to make my own in the freezer instead of freezing
my jewels off all day fishing for it..........
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, glad to have saved Lincoln thousands in design
fees, long before the ice cometh, any where near the shores of the
St.Lawrence......

D!@#! I was just getting ready to commission an icebreaker design for
the February event. I figure at least 75' loa, maybe 100, with big
props and motors, because the ice gets to 3 feet thick.

Maybe we need a second reminder denouncing Yahoo and saying to take
the reminder with a grain of salt.

Sorry, but the messabout already took place in August. For reasons
only the Yahoo Calendar understands,it continues to post the event
every so many weekends.I have attempted to delete/cancel this
"reminder notice" a number of times.Clearly the message is not getting
through.........

wish to check out the group postings some time in the early spring

Lincoln,
Yes.......this is indeed a TWO DAY EVENT!I just saw
the"reminder"sent out by the Yahoo Bolger group and frankly,I'm a bit
teed off.
The problem began many months ago,in the bleakness of our North
American winter when the idea of a messabout was launched.Remember?
Well,at that time,I checked out the "calendar"(left hand side of
the Yahoo Bolger page) and noticed that one could automatically send a
reminder to the group about an up-coming event. This is exactly what I
attempted to do.However,I noticed that the date fields would not
accept TWO dates at the same time?!?!So,I had to enter in twice.Once
for the 4th and once for the 5th.
Two "reminders" were sent out but perhaps some have deleted the
first one thinking it perhaps nothing more then a double posting made
in error.
Anyway,I hope that the many other posting concerning this
messabout have made it clear that this is indeed a TWO DAY EVENT and
that folks just disregard the Yahoo reminder since more details are
available in the members postings then that silly, sterile reminder.
Lets pray for a nice spell of good weather Lincoln and lots of
boats.See you there!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan
