Re: Perfect Skiff
The Woodenboat "Perfect Skiff" was designed by Steven Weld. I don't
know about one by Stambaugh.

I believe that one of these was designed by Karl Stambaugh at Chesapeake Marine Design .
It was simple and nice looking. He has a web site at the CMD address.

Are you referring to the boat that won the "Perfect Skiff" contest
that Woodenboat Magazine ran about 10 years ago?
If so, I suggest that you look at almost any one of the boats that
did not get their prize. Their choice boat has many negatives in
its design and I wonder just what qualifications the judges had.
The also rans look like much better boats for the purpose that they
proposed.
Same thing is true of the contest they had for a beginner sail
trainer. Don't know if another one was ever built.

I should have also mentioned that I am also interested in the Common
Sense Skiff. Does Mr. Bolger refer to it by a different name? Are
plans available from him? Are the specs and or plans published
anywhere?

I saw the files on this group about the Perfect Skiff. I am
interested in more info. Is there any info online, in books, or in
magazines? I saw a scan on this group that included the offsets, but
they weren't legible is there a clearer scan anywhere?
Anyone who has built or used the Perfect Skiff care to comment on it?
I have a similar interest in the Beach Cruiser if anyone has info or
comments on it.

John Tuma, of this list sent me some pictures of his Perfect Skiff, Nimbus
2000, under sail. They are very nice photos which you can see here:
Tried to use my digital camera to take a pic of the perfect skiff/CSD Skiff
from Bernie's last catalog. It's not a great graphic, but gives everyone
who never saw the design an idea of the design.

Mr. Weld's first name is Steve. The last I knew he could be found at Raymond

go to the library and copy the article.
The CSD Perfect Skiff isn't on the CSB web site that I can find.
Anyone know where it can be found?
thanks
Sean
Someone asked about the WB perfect skiff contest awhile back.
The competition was won by a gentleman by the name of Greg
Weld. His design was very nice along with the others submitted,
although in a follow up article in which WB had Weld's design
built and sailed, there were some concerns with the craft's
sailing abilities. I can look up the articles and give you
the issue #'s if needed. These competitions are great and
really fuel the amateur boatbuilding movement.
Thanks, Gerald
