Don't get the wrong idea just because of the name. Actually, The Chicago
Sanitary and Ship Canal, while not a stream I would want to eat fish
from, is no more polluted than a lot of urban rivers across the U.S. of
A. It is a sad fact that many cities with less effective sewage
treatment than Chicago's pipe the final result into a convenient river.
The Mississippi itself, down around all the chemical plants in Louisiana
is often as bad or worse.
