The Campanoe's hull and deck weigh 200 lbs. Fishcat is about 260 per
the CSB description. The latter is rated for 4 people and ~25 hp max.
I can't imagine the Campanoe's bimini, support tubing and side
curtains weighing more than 100 lbs. So, for a crew of 2 or maybe 3
ave people the weight shouldn't be an issue.

Steve
All that stuff is going to weigh something, though. I wasn't thinking
about resistance, but weight. Planing hulls can only carry so much
and still plane. My folks had a runabout which was wide and rated for
some huge load like 1500 lbs., but no way would it plane with that
kind of weight, even with 125hp (25hp more than it was rated for).

Lincoln,

Yes, the bimini and side panels would not agree with a planing hull
but it appears that all of this can be neatly stowed and then erected
when overnighting, stopping for a long pause or just deliberately
poking along.

Steve
I think you'd ruin the performance of a planing boat like the Fishcat
by loading it up like the displacement hulled Campanoe. Of course I
haven't tried it, nor have I been in either one. Bolger does have at
least one displacement power cat that would take better to this, tho
it doesn't have the deck size.

Years ago, someone on Lake Champlain had a power vessel that was a
platform on two canoes. Looked like fun.

A while back there was a brief thread on Bolger's Fishcat ("poor
man's Boston Whaler"). I finally got around to looking at the rather
attractive example on the Common Sense Boats page.

There's a somewhat similar boat offered commercially called the
Campanoe (http://userpages.chorus.net/sstokes/) which consists of
a platform striding two canoe hulls. The Campanoe approach on a
Fishcat base might be an interesting combo for a camping/fishing boat.

Has anyone here tackled Fishcat and does anyone know the Bolger
design number and/or what the plans cost direct from Phil?

The Campanoe, BTW, has been advertised in MAIB.
