WIDT, or. Don't Latest Adventure (slightlyOT)

OK, so this has nothing to do with Bolger, but it is a small boat adventure.

What I did today. My brother Terry has been looking for a Feathercraft Rocket
for nearly 2 years. Last Saturday, we made a 650-mile out and back to
Williamsport PA, doing the 1300 miles in 24 hours 12 minutes, which included
an hour gabbing at the house of the seller and maybe another hour and a half
messing with trailer light malfunctions on the way back. WHEW!!!

Tocay we put my 46 year old Evinrude Fastwin 15 on his "new" 1958, 12'
Feathercraft Rocket II, anodizied azure blue, and went for a spin. We were on
Ft. Loudon Lake, near Knoxville, which is the proposed lake for the soon
upcoming Southern Appalacian Messabout (maybe I didn't get that right...
we'll hear from John Bell if not :-).

What great fun. After launching the boat with the drain plug out plus 7
unpluffed screw holes in the transom, we dragged it back onto the trailer and
made wooden plugs for all holes. Worked like a charm.

We were on the lake about 3.5 hours, and went 42 river miles. The time
included a lot of goofing around, setting mixtures, stopping for fuel,
running circles to see how the boat turns. Great fun!!! The Evinrude ran like
a top. I do love these "agricultural" old OMC engines. We used around 6.5
gals of fuel, which sounds a lot like 6.5 mpg, but the goofoff stuff raised
the specific consumption a bit, I'd guess.

Anyway, as we all know a bad day on the lake is better than a good day doing
anything else, AND... this was a GOOD day :-)

We'll gt some pictures of the Feathercraft up on that marque's website and
I'll give the list a reference to it.
