Thin cloth (was latex house paint)
A small caveat...
While gossamer thin cloth should work very nicely to prevent checking, it
won't provide much abrasion resistance.
In an attempt to keep overall weight down, I used 1oz cloth on the boat I
built for my 'better half'. A miserable experience with what turned out to
be water-soluble 'exterior' paint required me to strip the old paint off.
This taught me two things (at least).
1. Citrus paint stripper attacks epoxy with a vengeance, and
2. I can sand paint off 4oz cloth easily, trying the same trick on 1oz
leaves bare wood.
Glassed the bottom of the Micro today. 6oz :)
