Re: glassing over graphite
Well, FWIW, multiple coats of epoxy and graphite stick very well,
really no differently than multiple coats of straight epoxy (I just
put rather too many coats on a rudder and centerboard trying to get
them smooth and shiny and nice. You can also glue with epoxy to epoxy-
graphite coated surfaces. I think the glass should stick just fine,
but I'd make a little test fillet and test it to destruction, at
least if really bad things would happen if the bond didn't hold.

You are probably right. I don't guess there would be any added
benefit from using graphite on both the case and the board. At least,
not enough to justify the extra trouble.

On the other hand presumably you would be mixing in about 10-20%
graphite powder by volume. The surface coated with graphite powder
would be the same percentage and if graphite doesn't stick
10-20percent would be you extent of loss of adhesion. Personally I
think it's a non-issue just from reading between the lines.
Where you want to glue it would be a simple matter to mask off the
areas to be glued and not coating them with the graphite mix if you
are concerned about adhesion.

Anybody know if there is an issue with epoxy and glass sticking to an
epoxy/graphite coating?
It sure would be easier to glass and epoxy/graphite coat the inside
of my centerboard before assemble. However, if I can't tape over the
graphite/epoxy coating, that will complicate matters.
