Re: [bolger] Clam Skiff
Bob I do feel your sickness will keep you out of
trouble for some time! So don't give up on it!
I knew a couple of older gents that lived to be
puttering around in their shops building something.
They were both over 95 when they past away.
Yes they were both boat builders by trade and some of
the craft they help build are still working the waters
of Alaska.
I remember going up to see Mom and Dad and stopped by
to see Sten and he was putting the planking on a skiff
that he was going to go rowing for his 95th birthday.
I remember the craftsmanship that was put into
anything they did.
Yes Sten did go rowing on his 95th birthday and then
let it be known that the boat was up for sale. I asked
him why he sold it. I loved his answer "So I can build
one more, so maybe this one will row right for me."
Bob building boats as a hobby keeps you active and
your mind working and that is what is needed to live a
life.

The MAIB index (now years out of date)
http://www.messingaboutinboats.com/archive.html
says Vol 17, Issue 22.
But, I recall one or even two more recent MAIB articles.
In short, I wish that, and would be grateful to, anyone who would
volunteer to update the MAIB index.
I once considered the clam skiff cabin version, but when I did a
mockup, I found the knee room between the seats to be too narrow for
my tastes. Though, it sure is a cool looking design!

I can't seem to find the MAIBs issue that contains the Cabin Clam Skiff. Does anyone remember which issue it was in? Also, in Bolger 1 photos there are pics of one, obviously in Sydney, but pccinboat does not list his e mail. Does anyone know who this is and how to reach him? I would like to ask some one who has one some questions.
I had said my last boat would BE my last boat (Bantam, Drifter, my 7th) and here I am thinking about number eight! A sickness for sure:)

If you look at the photo of the Cabin Clam Skiff in the "Photos"
section of this group, you can see the owner standing in the bow
area ahead of the cabin. Bolger's version has a Birdwatcher type
open center with sitting headroom when the hatch is closed. IMO
a standing headroom pilot house would look a quite strange. If
you built it very light and a snug fit for one person, I can't see
any reason why it would cause any problem other than
appearance.

Picking up this thread from about three weeks ago...
Since for me (and perhaps others beyond U.S. borders) both editions
of each month's MAIB arrive together the following month, I have only
just received the Oct. 1 issue with its Bolger piece on the Cabin
Clam Skiff. Unfortunately, MAIB's typically poor photo reproduction
does not give a clear view of the CCC built by Jeanne and Paul
Connor, apparently of Sydney, Australia.
Does anyone know how I could contact the Connors and ask for a couple
of clear photos? Do they subscribe to this List? Does anyone know
anyone else who has built Cabin Clam Skiff and might have photos? I
bought CCC plans from PCB last spring but have never had a clear look
at a finished one, even by way of a photograph.
