magnificent martha janes
I know that some of you have visited the Magnificent Martha Jane site
- and it may be that some have tried recently and have wondered what
happened to it. When Homestead changed their free website policies
the magnificent martha jane sites were all lost. They are being
reconstucted at

Just thought that some might be wondering and or interested!

Thanks for the kind offer. I'll tell my friend and
see if he wants to go that far to see her. I'd sure
like to take a look--I've never seen one.

I live in Rhinecliff, NY and would love to see your Micro. I've been
looking around for one. I sail on a cartopper on the Hudson here
across from Kingston. Please let me know. Thanks

I have a Micro that I built in 1995, but I'm in upstate New York,

I'd be willing to show her off if you can get here.

A friend who knows that I have built several Bolger
designs has asked me to help him build a sailboat,
probably a Long Micro, in my shop. This is the best
of all worlds for me: I get the fun of building
without paying for wood or epoxy, I have someone to
help with the grunt work, and I'll even get to sail
the thing occasionally, without being responsible for
maintenance. My friend, however, would really like to
look over a Micro or Long Micro before he commits to
the project. Not sail one, just look it over to get
an idea of the volumes involved in a way that pictures
can't convey. Does anyone know of an East Coast
(preferably Chesapeake-Delaware Bay region) that my
buddy might have a look at?
Thanks. Sam

I was thinking of a 2, possibly four Glass Matt or Lifeline batteries
a few solar panels and possibly a wind generator on the mizzen mast.
I know one of the 36v-48v electic motors would do fine, but it would
sure make things easier and cheaper if there is a 12v solution.
This isn't all that comparable, but I used the
smallest Minkota made, under 100 bucks to push my
elegant punt. With about 400lbs total weight, the
darn thing nearly planed out. It would keep pushing
for several hours. I don't doubt you could work
something out. Those bass boats are big. There is
also a real motor, that looks about the size of a 9 hp
regular motor. It was in that electric boat book
published a years ago.
Interesting to speculate what could be done with a
sharpie that was ballasted with lead batteries.
