Re: electric motor props

it isn't knowing something so much that is important, it is knowing who knows it or where to find the info you need. :-)

there is a group from onelist that i think is still on yahoo (a mailing list with a variety of web sites) called HPB. human powered boats. absolutely everything you could want to know about low power (trolling motor power levels) props can be found there. you wont believe me, but it is true. there is guy there with pics
of his daughter water-skiing behind his pedal powered kayak. getting power to move the boat forward instead of just move water is all in the prop!!!! large scale model airplane props are definitely the way to go for cheap ($10) off the shelf parts, but some of these guys mold there own to get it just right setup. links to
the math behind it can be found there too. there are free calculators on the net for model airplane guys, and with a few simple conversion equations i got from the HPB guys, that i don't seem to have a record of anymore, you can use them to figure exactly what would be the best prop for your application.

i have a high fever right now, so it might sound like gibberish, but i am sending cause it might help someone,
Richard
