Oh, this is a great reference. The design could put a
Sneakeasy sorta boat on the trailer for many, many more
people.
Any chance for a scan?

Thanks to you both for showing this.
Reading through the April posts on this topic, was fun. The
ideas for a sectioned boat from Max, part on trailer / part
on roof; and GHC's note that his full sized boat went 9
knots on only 5hp were especially interesting.
The Lake Launch certainly makes the shorter boat workable.
Perfect for Don's brother.
Philip Bolger wrote in 30 0dd Boats:
I guess these extensions aft the real transom must help at
high speed to leverage the bow down. Is there much advantage
in the 6 or 8 knot range over a conventionally turned up bottom?
What happens to the beavertail at lower speeds in a
following sea or dirty motorboat wake?

I have tried to attach the Lake Launch to this message. If it doesn't go through, let me know how to do it.

Check out the 'Lake Launch' by Bolger in the June 15, 1995 issue of MAIB.
It is a 15' 6" x 4' 1" skiff with a slipper stern like the Sneakeasy. Could be modified to add a fwd. deck. Takes 6 hp.
Looks like an easy project.

For a shorter Sneakeasy, considert 'Viper' from 30-Odd
Boats. Its a 20' x 3' 8" square boat that is the original
PCB adaptation of Hickman's speedboat, said to go 18.8 mph
on 12 hp. It has a transom stern, and the timber chines are
cheap and quick to build. The plan is for a mostly open
boat, but it could have the deck and windshield you like.

I am trying to talk Jim Michalak into designing
a shorter "Sneakeasy" sorta boat.
It would be about 19 ft long, about 5 ft beam
overall, double-chine, taped-seam. It would
have Sneakeasy's long,crowned forward deck,
vertical windsheild, and vertical stem. It
would NOT have the "drake tail" stern.
The basic hull design already exists; it is
called Bruces boat and a write-up can be seen
in the back issues of Jim';s site. I figured,
with remote controls, about 20 hp would be
plenty; Jim has checked Coast Guard regs and
said, under certain circumstances, it could
be rated for over 30 hp.

Max:
This is an interesting idea. What I am wondering is how the multichine 'Brucesboat' would compare to the original single chine Sneakeasy, and the later box keel version. Anyone want to speculate on the flight characteristics of these three hull configurations?
