Re: Pointer

Contrary to my assertion from memory, the picture of Pointer is in
the article on Skillgalley in 30-Odd Boats. I have posted a scan here:

http://www.geocities.com/pvanderwaart/Pointer.jpg

You can see that she is a more or less old-fashion sharpie, very low
with a flat sheer. Her cabin, deck, and rig seem to show the
designer's originality, but you can't make out the details. Note the
original Light Dory trailing behind. He has written that he sailed
the boat around New England to show off Pointer, and was surprised
and slightly chagrined to find that all the interest was due to the
dory.

Thanks all, I was just sort of interested in what it
was at the time, I agree things have moved in a number
of different directions since, but it is interesting
to see the genessis of an idea.

I believe that there is a picture of Pointer, perhaps in the Folding
Schooner chapter on Black Gauntlet. I'm sure that PCB would steer you
away in favor of various boats that he feels are improvements,
including Black Gauntlet, Black Skimmer, Jochems Schooner, Martha
Jane, AS-29, Jesse Cooper, etc.

Think of Pointer as the prototype for the Black Gauntlet class.

Does anyone have any information on this early Bolger liveaboard?
What where its dimensions, any pictures on the web, etc... The only
thing I have ever seen about it was the picture in 30 Odd Boats

Thanks
