Re: Viking longship

Hi

I don't know if the Bolger version has been built, but I see the
"Nordlandsbater" as the class is called out all the time here in
Tromso. They are truly beautiful boats. They are not remarkably fast
however so I have a bit of trouble believing the 20 knots thing.

On one memorable occasion I watched 2 nordlandsbater racing while a
bunch of windsurfers ran circles around them. Truly a remarkable
sight.

Has anyone built the Viking Longship depicted in Bolger's BWAOM? I have
a Classic Boat Magazine from December 1998 with an excellent story on
the faemborings of Northern Norway. These have a small cabin in the aft
end. Some of these craft have surfed down swells in excess of 20 knots!
