contains some interesting information on small sampans collected by
Gene Smith and myself, the Cranks With Planks.
Hi all,

just a preview of some thing which I will be providing links for or
placing n the Cheap Pages.

Four items in the Vault --

A really nice stern shot of a sampan, China, 1979, from the NOAA
Central Library image archive site. I've seen few shots this good,
shows set of sail and sheeting very nicely as well as stern details.
There is a 1300dpi x 1300dpi version online at NOAA.

Another shot, same time, etc., one boat you might call a Small Junk,
another a Large Sampan, both of which correlate frighteningly well with
drawings found in Worcester and Audemard from 50 to nearly 100 years
ago. Some things never change.

"Naga.jpg" is a shot of a junk-rigged traditional Indonesian vessel
built in Indonesia. It's for sale in Germany. Probably not as cheap as
Bob's AS-39.

"Cockpit" is the owner demonstrating the proper way to sail while
crossing the Indian Ocean.

Links will be added to Cheap Pages in the next couple weeks.
